RELATIONSHIP
ADVICE FOR REAL RELATIONSHIPS
"My
advice helps real people in real relationships get
through real tough times."
- Monte Jamison, Relationship Guide
If
you are considering moving in with someone, this advice
is for you. If you have ever been in a relationship
and looked up and wondered why you are even with this
person, this advice is for you. If you are starting
to wonder "what did I ever see in him/her?"
this advice is for you. Through the years, I have
learned how to avoid that dreaded day when you look
up and hate being with the one you thought you used
to love.
If
you want to live a long, happy life with your mate,
consider these things:
1
- It does not matter how physically attractive a person
is. Judging a person by looks alone is not
only shallow, but it is wrong and will only lead to
disaster. I heard someone say once that a gorgeous
house with expensive marble and beautiful fixtures
is nothing if it has a crack in the foundation. Remember,
the foundation is what is important in a house, not
the color of the carpet. Beauty is more than skin
deep.
2
- A person makes money, money does not make a person.
If you are attracted to someone because of their financial
status, you better be prepared to support whatever
they do to make the money. If you are with a banker,
be prepared to talk finances. If you are with a lawyer,
prepare to debate. If you are with a real estate mogul,
prepare to be talk about housing market trends. If
you are with a professional athlete, you had better
know the rules of the game and be able to carry on
an intelligent conversation about the sport. If certain
subjects or professions bore you, don’t get
involved with a person who deals with that subject
or works in that profession. No matter how much money
they make, your relationship won’t last if you
have nothing in common with the way they make their
money.
3
- Observe personal hygiene. If you and the
person you are with do not handle personal hygiene
the same way, there will be problems. A neat freak
and an super slob will never be able to cohabitate
without an argument breaking out at one point or another.
When you are dating, take notice of the way a person
grooms his or herself, and the way they handle domestic
duties, before you make the decision to move in together.
You could avoid a lot of problems simply by knowing
what level of personal hygiene a person prefers.
If
you are thinking about getting serious, noting these
(and other) little tidbits of information can help
you make the right decision on whether or not to take
the next step. If you are in a serious commitment,
noting certain things can make you recognize why you
are starting to feel differently about the person
you are with . No matter what your issue is, I can
help you get through it, get over it, or get past
it. Read more:
